(El Comercio).- “The Martian”, “Spotlight” y “The Revenant”, del mexicano Alejandro González Iñárritu, lideran las nominaciones a los premios Oscar que fueron anunciadas en enero en Los Ángeles.
El fuerte apoyo a “The Revenant”, con nominaciones a mejor película, mejor director y mejor actor, para Leonardo DiCaprio, se produce a escasos días de la victoria del filme en los Globos de Oro y le da al director mexicano la posibilidad de llevarse por segundo año consecutivo la estatuilla. El año pasado Iñárritu triunfó en los Premios de la Academia con “Birdman”, justo al año siguiente de que su compatriota y amigo Alfonso Cuarón lograra la hazaña con “Gravity”.
“Lo dimos todo en esta película y este reconocimiento de la Academia significa mucho para mí y mis colegas que la hicieron posible”, dijo Iñárritu en un comunicado. “¡Correrán el champagne y el mezcal esta noche!”.
Su director de cinematografía, el multipremiado mexicano Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki, también fue nominado al Oscar, tras haberse alzado con la estatuilla en 2014 y 2015, por “Gravity” y “Birdman” respectivamente.
La secuela postapocalíptica “Mad Max: Furia en el camino” de George Miller recibió 10 nominaciones a los Oscar 2016, entre ellas a mejor película y mejor director. La épica de ciencia ficción de Ridley Scott “The Martian” (“Misión rescate”) consiguió siete nominaciones, incluyendo mejor película, pero sorpresivamente no le mereció una a Scott como director.
Ocho filmes fueron nominados a mejor película. Los otros cinco son: el drama de Tom McCarthy sobre periodismo investigativo “Spotlight”, el thriller de la Guerra Fría de Steven Spielberg “Bridge of Spies”, la adaptación de Adam McKay de “The Big Short” de Michael Lewis, el drama de una madre e hijo en cautiverio “Room” y el relato de inmigración irlandesa “Brooklyn”.
Por fuera se quedaron el aclamado romance lésbico de Todd Haynes “Carol” y la cinta biográfica sobre el grupo de hip hop N.W.A “Straight Outta Compton”. El desaire a “Carol” significa que un usual peso pesado de los Oscar, Harvey Weinstein, no tendrá un filme en la contienda por primera vez desde el 2007.
