Entrepreneur and finance influencer Grant Cardone posted a short message on X on Tuesday, October 27, that set off a conversation about Cuba’s future: “USA will acquire Cuba. Bookmark this.” He attached a map of the Caribbean with the island highlighted.
In less than 24 hours, Grant Cardone’s post about Cuba had more than 117,000 views, about 600 replies, nearly 550 reposts and about 4,000 likes, according to figures visible on the platform at midday Wednesday. Cardone did not say what his prediction was based on, and he did not cite any official source.

Who Grant Cardone is
Cardone, 68, founded Cardone Capital, a real estate investment firm based in South Florida. He also wrote sales books such as The 10X Rule. He is an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, and in 2022 he brought Trump in as the headline speaker at one of his 10X conferences.
His post, however, is not an announcement from the US government. There is no record of the White House or the State Department talking about “acquiring” Cuba. What does exist is official rhetoric that has pointed again and again in recent months toward deep change on the island.
What Trump and Rubio have said about Cuba
On February 27, as he left the White House, Trump told reporters that the Cuban regime was in talks with Washington and that “we could very well end up having a friendly takeover of Cuba,” The Associated Press reported. He did not explain what he meant by the phrase.
On Friday, October 23, at a rally in Fort Myers, Florida, the president came back to the idea of warships returning from Iran stopping off the Cuban coast. “Those beautiful ships will pass Cuba,” he said, adding that Washington would then “send Marco Rubio in to finish up the deal,” according to AP. On Tuesday, October 27, at another rally in Corpus Christi, Texas, Trump called Rubio onstage and joked about dropping him into Cuba: “We’re going to parachute him in. Just drop him, and he’ll figure it out,” The Hill reported.

That same Friday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote on X: “To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba – now is the time.” He urged them to seize the opportunity through a “discrete partnership with the CIA.” On Monday, October 26, in a conference call with reporters, he insisted that Cuba needs a very drastic change, without explaining what that would involve.
How Cubans are responding on X
Most of the visible replies to Cardone’s post come from Cubans who welcomed it with enthusiasm. “As a Cuban, please, and thank you,” wrote user Reynier de la Torre, in one of the most-liked comments in the thread.
Another user, whose display name carries the Cuban and American flags, joked that the post was approved and certified by the Cuban people. A third said that a US acquisition of Cuba would be one of the greatest victories for freedom we have ever seen.
@GrantCardone The Cuban people have been waiting for that for a long time 🙏

The replies reviewed by Cubanos por el Mundo share the same feeling: a wish to see a quick end to a regime that many of them associate with more than six decades of dictatorship, shortages and repression.
A prediction, not an announcement
For now, Cardone’s message is a personal prediction from a businessman close to Trump, not an announced policy. What can be verified is Washington’s pressure on Havana and the statements from Trump and Rubio about a “deal” whose terms have not been made public.
Trump’s latest remarks about Cuba come just days before the US midterm elections on November 3.
